The Hungry Soul…

Truth hides behind a cloak of

sorrow living with internal fears;

pain alters the face of reality,

living a lie in the presence of

those who care, of those who

are near.

Fear kills hope for the future

when life remains buried in the

past; the desire for love will never

be realize, if one believes that it

will never last.

We clutter our mind with the mesh

trappings of yesteryear; every step

taken forward is difficult, as the loads

we carry at times are too much to

bear.

Tenderness eludes the outstretched arms

of need; compassion lies dormant, life

stifles the hungry soul that one cannot

feed.

Divine assistance is always at hand, yet

for many the eyes cannot see; blindness

to faith stops life from accomplishing all

that it will ever need.

Spirituality does not mean that one must

bind themselves to a devoted foundation;

belief does not mean that our hungry souls

be bound to one worldly location.

Emotional healing takes time and it will not

be easy to journey toward the place where

we belong; one travels many roads into

tomorrow, but one never travels it alone.

    • Sohumm here is the last line that you said your were a “bit” surprised by “Emotional healing takes time and it will not be easy to journey toward the place where we belong; one travels many roads into tomorrow, but one never travels it alone. This poem was from my life; maybe simple say to you, that my journey here has not been easy and I am trying to heal from a terrible loss; I belong with my children in “My Heaven”; and “My God” travels with me on my journey as I strive to get there.

      • Very true!…I guessed it must be something along those lines when I read that line for 3rd or 4th consecutive time….now that you have explained, I just remembered an incident with my friend. we were just having some spiritual talk when one of my friends suggested a game ( a kind of psychological trick) where you were to imagine going through a dark dangerous jungle and describe what you feel…..everyone including me described our journey alone but there was one person who said that she felt safe because she was walking there, holding the hand of her Guru….
        As I was dwelling about your lines I imagined you must be thinking about your journey with someone close…in your case God!
        Thanks again for replying…and all the best 🙂
